About DoodlyBoo
A small app with one job: show a child what the thing they invented would look like if it were real.
What it does
You photograph a drawing. DoodlyBoo turns it into a photorealistic image, a short animated video, or a character that speaks out loud. The whole interaction is one button, because it is meant to be operated by the person who made the drawing.
The one rule we designed around
The result has to be recognisably their drawing.
It would be easy to build something that takes a child's sketch of a horse and returns a beautiful horse. That version is worse, and it fails at the only thing that matters. If a child draws a horse with five legs and a crown, the point is to see that horse made real — not a corrected, improved, generically handsome one. The AI is guided by the drawing rather than merely inspired by it, and we would rather ship a slightly rougher image that is faithful than a polished one that is not.
What we deliberately did not build
- No behavioural advertising. There are no ads and no ad tracking aimed at children.
- No social feed by default. Drawings are private unless a parent deliberately shares them. There is a community gallery, but it is opt-in and sits behind a parental gate.
- No data selling. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
- No voice cloning. Talking characters use generated AI voices. We do not record or clone a child's voice.
- No engagement mechanics. No streaks, no daily rewards, nothing designed to pull a child back in. This is meant to be used on a rainy afternoon and then put down.
How it is paid for
The app is free to download and you get one free credit to try it. After that, transformations use credits, which you can buy as a one-off pack or through a subscription. We lean toward credit packs being the honest default, because most families use this in bursts rather than continuously.
Generated content is yours to keep and share for personal use. The specifics are in our Terms of Service.
Privacy, in short
Drawings are private by default. A parental gate protects signing in, purchases, account deletion and anything that would make content public. You can delete your account and all of its content from Settings. The Privacy Policy is written to be read rather than to be technically compliant, and it says exactly what is collected and who processes it.
