The drawer problem

Every parent has the drawer. Or the box, or the folder on top of the wardrobe. Hundreds of drawings, most of them undated, a few of them genuinely wonderful, and no realistic prospect of ever going through them again.

The honest truth is that the paper is not really the thing you want to keep. What you want is the memory of the six-year-old who was certain that horses have five legs. Turning a handful of the best ones into images you will actually look at solves more of the problem than another storage box does.

What you can do with a drawing

• A realistic photo. See the drawing as if it were real — photo transformation.
• A short video. Watch it move and share it with family — video animation.
• A talking character. Give it a voice and let your child write the line — talking drawings.
• A gift. Grandparents react to this in a way they do not react to another photo of the kids — see gift ideas.

Privacy, plainly

This is a children's app, so it is worth being specific rather than reassuring:

• Drawings are private by default. Nothing is public unless you make it public.
• There is no behavioural advertising and no tracking of children.
• No precise location data is collected.
• A parental gate (a maths challenge) guards signing in, purchases, account deletion, and making anything public.
• We do not sell personal data to third parties.
• You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings.

Doing it together

The app works best as a shared activity rather than something handed to a child alone. Let them choose which drawing to transform, let them press the button, and let them decide what the character says. The waiting-for-the-result part is half the fun.

One small warning from experience: the first result will be met with a demand to do it again with every other drawing in the house.
